This was a great opportunity to work on an original Simon & Kirby creation, especially one as underrated as ’Fighting American’.
I was super stoked when I got the call from editor David Leach and despite not being entirely
comfortable with the humour based direction this was taking (I realy wanted to do a serious take on the character and concept), I was greatful for the opportunity.
I was keen to do a more serious take on the concept, and I know there was a pretty awesome pitch made but it was dropped in favour of the more light hearted approach we got.
It was fun tho, and I wish I could have done more!
